Fly anatomy worksheets bilingual chinese and english

Learn the body parts of this common buzzy pest with our fly anatomy worksheets. This adventure started the other day when a huge blow fly flew into our apartment. My insect-loving children decided to catch it and keep it as a pet. After capturing the fuzzy critter in a plastic jar, they enjoyed examining every detail of its fly body.

My children’s fascination with the fly inspired me to create these worksheets to expand our Chinese language skills. Knowing how much my daughter enjoys cutting and gluing and seeing my son’s current love for drawing and reading comics, I incorporated these activities into the fly anatomy worksheets.

Before having kids, I never thought I’d spend so much time researching bugs and even catching them! But you know what they say, learning becomes so much more effective when it’s based on your child’s interests because they retain information when it’s something they’re passionate about! Following your child’s lead is a great way to make learning fun!

On our trip to Trader Joe’s that same day, we spotted a Venus flytrap, which happened to be on my son’s wishlist—a lucky find! Did you know adult blow flies can live from 2 weeks to a month?! Its luck ran out swiftly after we brought the plant home!

How to use these worksheets

Character Recognition

Matching up the vocabulary words on the diagram helps your child focus on the Chinese characters. Cutting and pasting incorporate tactile learning and can help reinforce vocabulary concepts.

Language Comprehension

The drawing activity aids comprehension of the storyline by asking children to create their comics to match the story. This worksheet encourages practice without writing.

Recommended Books

If your kids enjoyng learning about insects, these are two of our favorite books sets. They both come with reading pens that allow children to hear the correct pronunciation of words and phrases. Reading pens support independant learning, especially in families that do not have a native speaker of the target language.
